Important Syllabus & Exam Rules

  • Candidates have to qualify in each part of the Objective test separately.
  • Candidates must qualify in the Preliminary Examination to appear in the Main Examination.
  • There is negative marking in both Preliminary and Main Objective Tests.
  • One-fourth (1/4th) of the marks assigned to a question is deducted for each wrong answer.
  • Candidates are shortlisted from Preliminary Examination approximately 10 times the number of vacancies, subject to availability.
  • Candidates are shortlisted from Main Examination approximately 2 times the number of vacancies, subject to availability.
  • The Language Proficiency Test is mandatory for candidates shortlisted from the Main Examination.
  • A candidate not proficient in the applicable Official / Local Language shall be disqualified.

Medium of Examination

The notification specifies different examination mediums for different RBI Recruitment Offices.

English Test

The Test of English Language is conducted in English.

Other Objective Tests

Other online tests are available in English, Hindi and the additional languages specified for the respective Recruitment Office.

Kolkata Office

English, Hindi & Bengali are available as the medium of online examination.

Language Proficiency Test (LPT)

The LPT is the final language-based stage after the Main Examination.

Local Language

The LPT is conducted in the Official / Local Language(s) of the concerned state.

Mandatory

No exemption is given from appearing in the LPT.

Disqualification

Candidates not proficient in the applicable local language shall be disqualified.

Kolkata LPT

Bengali / Nepali are the local languages specified for the Kolkata Recruitment Office.
