75 questions carrying 75 marks. CBT-1 is a screening examination for shortlisting to CBT-2.
Part-A has 100 questions in 90 minutes and Part-B has 75 questions in 60 minutes.
One-third mark is deducted for every wrong answer in CBT-1 and CBT-2.
Part-B requires 35% qualifying marks for all candidates, irrespective of category.
The RRB ALP recruitment process under CEN No. 01/2026 comprises CBT-1, CBT-2, CBAT, Document Verification and Medical Examination.
Screening CBT covering Mathematics, Mental Ability and General Science. CBT-1 marks are not counted in the final panel.

The CBT examination is conducted according to the language options provided by RRB in the application and examination process.
The Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT) shall be conducted only in English and Hindi.

CBT-1 covers Mathematics, Mental Ability and General Science. Mathematics includes Number System, BODMAS, Decimals, Fractions, LCM, HCF, Ratio and Proportion, Percentages, Mensuration, Time and Work, Time and Distance, Simple and Compound Interest, Profit and Loss, Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry, Elementary Statistics, Square Root, Age Calculations, Calendar & Clock and Pipes & Cistern. Mental Ability includes analogies, series, coding-decoding, mathematical operations, relationships, syllogism, jumbling, Venn Diagram, data interpretation and sufficiency, conclusions and decision making, similarities and differences, analytical reasoning, classification, directions, statement-arguments and assumptions. General Science covers Physics, Chemistry and Life Sciences of 10th standard level.
Part-A contains Mathematics, General Intelligence & Reasoning and Basic Science & Engineering. Basic Science & Engineering includes Engineering Drawing, Units, Measurements, Mass Weight and Density, Work Power and Energy, Speed and Velocity, Heat and Temperature, Basic Electricity, Levers and Simple Machines, Occupational Safety and Health, Environment Education and IT Literacy.
Part-B is a qualifying test based on the relevant trade syllabus prescribed by the Directorate General of Training (DGT). ITI/Trade Apprenticeship candidates appear in the section for their trade. Degree and Diploma candidates select one trade from the list associated with their engineering discipline.
CBT-2 contains 175 questions in total. Part-A has 100 questions and Part-B has 75 questions. The total duration is 2 hours 30 minutes: 90 minutes for Part-A and 60 minutes for Part-B.
Yes. Part-B is qualifying in nature. Candidates must secure 35% marks in Part-B irrespective of category/community. Only Part-A marks are counted for further shortlisting, subject to qualifying Part-B.
Yes. There is negative marking of 1/3 mark for every wrong answer in CBT-1 and CBT-2. There is no negative marking in CBAT.
Candidates shortlisted for CBAT must clear each test battery separately. All candidates must secure a minimum T-score of 42 marks in each test battery separately to qualify. CBAT is conducted only in English and Hindi and has no negative marking.
No. CBT-1 is only a screening examination for shortlisting candidates to CBT-2. The marks of CBT-1 are not counted while preparing the final panel.
