RRB Technician recruitment includes Technician Grade-I Signal and various Technician Grade-III categories.

Technician Grade-I Signal

Pay Level-5. Initial basic pay ₹29,200. This is the higher-level Technician post with prescribed technical qualification and B-1 medical standard.

Technician Grade-III

Pay Level-2. Initial basic pay ₹19,900. Recruitment covers multiple technical categories across Railway departments.

Track Machine

One of the notified Technician Grade-III categories involving technical work related to Railway track machines.

Electrical Categories

Grade-III categories include Electrical/TRS, Electrical (GS), Electrical (TRD), EMU and other notified electrical posts.

Mechanical Categories

Grade-III categories include Diesel Mechanical, Fitter, Carriage & Wagon, Machinist, Millwright and other notified technical posts.

Workshop & Other Trades

Eligibility Criteria

Qualification

Qualification depends on the post. Grade-I Signal requires prescribed B.Sc., Diploma or Engineering qualification, while Grade-III posts generally require Matriculation/SSLC plus relevant ITI or Course Completed Act Apprenticeship.

Nationality

Indian citizens and other eligible categories specified under the RRB rules may apply, subject to the prescribed conditions.

Medical Fitness

Candidates must satisfy the prescribed Railway medical standard for the post opted for.

Educational Qualification

Technician Grade-I Signal

Candidates must possess one of the prescribed qualifications in Physics, Electronics, Computer Science, Information Technology or Instrumentation, such as a B.Sc. degree, a three-year Diploma in Engineering, or an Engineering Degree in the prescribed streams or combinations.


Technician Grade-III

Candidates must generally possess Matriculation / SSLC plus ITI from a recognized NCVT/SCVT institution in the prescribed trade, or Matriculation / SSLC plus Course Completed Act Apprenticeship in the relevant trade.


Important Qualification Rule

The prescribed educational or technical qualification must already have been obtained from a recognized institution. Candidates awaiting the final result of the prescribed qualification are not eligible. For Pay Level-2 Technician posts, a Diploma or Degree in Engineering is not accepted in lieu of ITI / Course Completed Act Apprenticeship unless specifically prescribed.

The prescribed age limit is 18–33 years for Technician Grade-I Signal and 18–30 years for Technician Grade-III.

Age relaxation is available to eligible reserved categories and other specified categories according to the applicable Government rules.

Examination Pattern

RRB Technician recruitment is conducted through a Computer Based Test, followed by Document Verification and Medical Examination. A separate CBT is conducted for each Pay Level.

Computer Based Test
